Can’t afford to fly to Venice for the Venice International Film Festival? No problem! For the first time VIFF offers 10 feature films and 13 short films from the Orizzonti section of the festival for viewing via your computer, tablet, phone or anything you can stream from. The films will be streamed all over the world simultaneously with the official screening on the Island of Lido, Venice, Italy while still maintaining the exclusivity with a restricted amount of virtual "seats" for purchase on the website.

Orizzonti, translating from Italian to ‘Horizons’, was introduced in 2010 as a new segment of the festival to showcase and explore contemporary cinema.

Orizzonti offers audiences a chance to see debut films and feature-length films that explore new age genres and production methods and showcase innovative and original creative new filmmakers. Streaming this section of the festival around the world, will allow new films, filmmakers and young writers a higher chance of exposure for their masterpieces.

The films will be available for streaming for 24 hours starting at 9.00pm (Italian time) on the day of the films live screening at the Venice Film Festival according to the festival program. Films will be shown in their original language with the option of English subtitles.

The virtual theatre is located on a secure website managed by Festival Scope, a new innovation that offers a platform for film professionals to program pieces to be viewed online on demand. Reservations must be made on the website in order to secure one of only 500 "seats" offered around the world.

Tickets cost only €4.20 for one feature length film or two shorts. Once a virtual ticket is purchased, the user receives an individual link that is good for one viewing only.

The 69th annual Venice International Film Festival runs from the 29th of August ‘til the 8th of September 2012. Check out the festival website for information regarding the showcased films and film screening schedules as well as how to buy tickets.
